Since Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love, we thought we would create a list of things that customers love about Rufflets. We have scanned our guest reviews and comments and taken a peek through the letters that many of our customers have taken the time to write following post-stay and we think we have come up with a list that speaks for itself.
It’s a fairly sweeping category, but our service and staff rank the highest on our love list! Staff get a 9.5 rating on booking.com and 5 stars on Trip Advisor – their top rating. Our staff reviews are generally glowing, but what we think makes the biggest difference is having a team that are proud of their hotel and who have a wealth of knowledge and experience to deliver outstanding guest experiences. Guests are fascinated by authentic, local experiences, and we deliver that in oodles. Guest feedback often mentions the genuine warmth of the staff and reinforces just how much pleasure it gives them to recognise a familiar face on their successive trips.
Our Scottish breakfast always receives sparkling reviews. Guests love the fact that we serve a delicious continental buffet breakfast as well as a ‘cooked-to-order’ a la carte breakfast. Scottish Porridge, Eggs Benedict, Grilled Loch Fyne Kippers and Smoked Belhaven Salmon with scrambled eggs all feature on our breakfast menu, as well as being able to curate your own Full Scottish. Our rates always include full Scottish breakfast so it’s never an unwelcome addition to your bill upon check-out.
Rufflets is surrounded by 10 acres of beautifully-manicured gardens and grounds in a private-setting just a few minutes-drive from St Andrews. Our location and gardens are most appreciated in the summer months when they not only become the backdrop for outdoor wedding ceremonies but the gardens and our sunny terrace become the go-to meeting point for after work drinks and dining. Guests also love the fact they can throw down a picnic blanket and dine on a rug if the weather is favourable. More recently we receive a lot of positive feedback around our kitchen garden and the fact that we can supply much of the fresh produce for the kitchen.
We pay close attention to little things that have a big impact on a guest stay. It’s the little things that can make or break a hotel stay, whether it’s the texture of the bedroom linen, in-room amenities, or a choice of pillow and we manage to get a lot of these spot on!
Our guests will be familiar with Rufus our much loved in-room teddy bear – introduced in 1995 to enhance the guest experience. Guests can adopt him and over the years we’ve had hundreds of photos and postcards sent to us with Rufus on his travels. Other touches that guests love include a take-home goodie bag filled with our own home-baked shortbread.
One thing that many of our guests comment upon frequently is the feeling that our former country house has a ‘soul’. Sometimes hotels can lack a real sense of place but Rufflets’ long history gives it depth and character. It may seem a little odd, but on further questioning, we are told that the walls of the old house feel as though they can tell a story!
